Glowing Skin For Townsville Locals

A new boutique store dedicated to non-toxic, natural and Australian made products has launched with a mission to promote the benefits of natural and organic skin care and cosmetics.

Located in the Otto’s Warrina Complex, Beautiful You stocks a unique range of products for the face, body, baby and home. Store owner, Debbie Robinson, says the business was born out of her desire to provide access to products she previously had been unable to source locally herself.

“Many of the products I’ve used over the years are ones I’ve been unable to find here in Townsville, which meant I was wearing the costs of shipping and freight,” explains Debbie, who says her passion for clean beauty started at a young age.

“I definitely identified a huge gap in the Townsville market for natural and Australian made products and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said, ‘I wish I could have sourced that locally!’

Launching only days before Christmas, the store already has a devoted customer base and is working to promote conscious beauty consumerism through its business ethos.

“Since opening in December of 2020, the business has been flourishing which I think is due to its great location and hard to find products,” she continues.

“We stock a range of hair and skin products including ones tailored specifically to teenagers and those who suffer from skin conditions, as well as home products including candles and essential oils.”

“I’m aiming to sell unique, Australian made and sustainable products that we can’t get here in North Queensland.”

Thanks to growing health and environmental consciousness, many consumers are now demanding beauty products that support Australian suppliers, are chemical-free and ethically-produced. Debbie says this increased push for ‘clean beauty’ made it the ideal time to launch the business.

“A few years ago, people may have been skeptical about my business model, but now so many people are making the switch to clean beauty and are becoming mindful of the products they are putting on their skin and including in their homes,” says Debbie.

“There is an untapped market here in North Queensland and Beautiful You has the potential to fill this gap and support Australian businesses that are ultimately working towards a more sustainable future within the industry.”

Debbie says the needs of her customers are at the forefront of her service and she is relying on customers’ feedback to drive what she stocks.

“I’m very much driven by my customers’ suggestions of what they’d like to see in my store. We have received great feedback from them already, which has enabled me to research, source and stock products that are now proving to be a hit within the Townsville community.”

Despite her imminent success, Debbie says navigating the business space proved to be a challenge, but one she has successfully overcome.

“Being a new retail business owner, the most challenging aspect is being aware of the risks associated with this responsibility,” she continues.

“However, I have found that the key to success is a combination of great products, a knowledge of each product in the store, personal customer service, and of course a great location.

“You truly can’t beat that!”
