Queensland Country Bank Secures Decade-Long Partnership with Stadium Naming Rights Extension

Queensland Country Bank Stadium has celebrated its 5th birthday with the announcement that Queensland Country Bank has extended their naming rights sponsorship for a further four years, securing a decade-long partnership with Stadiums Queensland and reinforcing their commitment to supporting world-class entertainment and sporting events in North Queensland.

Now entering the final year of the initial six-year term, Queensland Country Bank CEO Aaron Newman said the renewed agreement will extend until December 31, 2029.

“At the time of the original conversation about the stadium in 2019, we knew that the stadium would host all home games for the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys National Rugby League team, but we were uncertain about what other events might be secured,” says Aaron.

“We recognised that the stadium was an important piece of social infrastructure that would contribute to the liveability and economic prosperity of the city, and we wanted to support that.

“Our partnership with Stadiums Queensland has exceeded all expectations, and we’ve been thrilled that Queensland Country Bank Stadium has been highly successful in attracting major headline events including Elton John, men’s and women’s State of Origin, Rugby World Cup, P!nk and The Killers.

“There is no doubt that Queensland Country Bank Stadium has generated significant exposure for our brand that has contributed to our accelerated growth as a bank of choice for Queenslanders, but what we’re most proud of is the opportunities the stadium has created for regional Queenslanders and we’re delighted to continue to play a role in the growth of North Queensland.”

Stadiums Queensland CEO Todd Harris agreed they were delighted to continue the mutually beneficial partnership.

“Queensland Country Bank has been with us from the start, from the uncertainty of the early days through the pandemic, to the powerhouse the venue has become, home to the Cowboys and host to the best national and international sport and entertainment available,” he says.

“Having a partner invested in us and also committed to the long-term benefit of the region has been absolutely vital to that success, and we look forward to continuing our very strong relationship with Queensland Country Bank.”

Queensland Country Bank Stadium continues to be a key driver of attracting visitors to the region and has already secured several key events for in the future including the Wallabies v Argentina rugby union game on September 6, Nitro Circus on October 25 and four matches for the Rugby World Cup 2027.

“In just the last five years, the stadium welcomed over 1.25 million attendees, and generated over $357 million in visitor spend for the city,” said Townsville Enterprise CEO, Claudia Brumme-Smith.

“Our pathway to a strong events calendar is clear thanks to the newly inked Major Events Strategy to be delivered by the Townsville Enterprise team.

“Queensland Country Bank Stadium holds a special place in the heart of this community and Townsville Enterprise. It was a visionary idea that came to life through true collaboration and the determination of North Queensland and it took us seven years to align State government funding as part of our advocacy efforts as a region; we cannot wait to see the eventful future ahead.”
