Local Agent a Rising Star on the National Stage

Townsville’s thriving property market continues to shine on the national stage, with local real estate agent Jess Whaites taking home the Rising Star Award at the Agents’ Agency Corporate Awards in Melbourne this week.

Since launching her boutique real estate agency Whaites + Co on November 1, 2023, Jess has achieved over $29 million in property sales within her first year. Her agency also boasts an impressive average of just seven days from listing to under contract—one of the fastest turnaround times in the market.

Whaites + Co was also nominated for Effective Business Unit of the Year, while Sales Administration Assistant Steven Marsilio received a nomination for Best in a Supporting Role.

Jess said that winning the Rising Star Award, which celebrates emerging leaders in the real estate sector who demonstrate outstanding innovation, dedication, and business acumen, was a testament to the support she had received from her clients, team and the Townsville community.

“Starting Whaites + Co was a leap of faith, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey,” she said.

“Real estate is about more than just buying and selling properties—it’s about helping people find a place they can call home.

“As a local of over thirty years here in Townsville, I know the market and I pride myself on offering personalised service and giving back to the community, and I believe this has been key to our success.

“Receiving three nominations and winning the Rising Star award at a national real estate industry event reflects the quality service we provide to our clients.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Jess said Whaites + Co is poised for continued growth, with a pipeline of properties ready to hit the market in the new year.

“We’re not slowing down over the Christmas period and already have five homes scheduled for listing in early January,” she said.

“The real estate market it booming in Townsville right now, and we’re excited to play a key role in shaping the city’s future – not just through property sales, but by giving back to the local community that supports us.”
