Soaring Opportunities for Future Aviators

Future Aviators can now explore the various flight training pathways and career opportunities available in the aviation sector by building crucial industry connections at Townsville Flight Training’s upcoming Open Day on Saturday.

Delivered in partnership with Townsville Helicopters, Zephair Aircraft Charters and Aviatrix Australia, Townsville Flight Training (TFT) owner Dick Arnold says the Open Day is designed to provide aspiring aviators with the opportunity to follow their dreams by taking their first steps towards a Pilot Licence.

“Student pilots can seek advice from experienced and qualified Pilots in the industry, talking with Captains from Skytrans, Hinterland Aviation, Atherton Tableland Air Services, RAAF 5th Aviation Regiment and flight instructors,” says Dick.

“For those looking to pursue a career as a Pilot, the Open Day will provide an opportunity to learn about the educational pathways on offer such as the AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation, delivered in partnership with TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) and our Bachelor of Aviation, which is in partnership with Central Queensland University (CQU).”

Dick says there is a gap in the market for those seeking employment opportunities in the sector following flight training. Through collaboration and partnerships with local businesses, they are hoping to bridge this gap by providing pathways into flying roles.

“Townsville Flight Training has just signed an Airline Pathway Project, Memorandum of Understanding with Skytrans Airlines and CQUniversity, demonstrating our commitment to providing clear career pathways for our graduates,” he says.

“On display at the Open Day, future aviators will be able to view aircraft that they may hope to command one day, including a Skytrans passenger carrying Dash 8, Hinterland’s Cessna Caravan and other commonly used high performance charter aircraft.”

As borders continue to open up around the world, Dick says there has never been a better time for aviation enthusiasts to embrace their passion for flight and train to become a pilot.

“Boeing’s 2021 Pilot and Technician Outlook tells us that with a new demand for 612,000 pilots, aspiring pilots who begin their flight training today will be well positioned to benefit from new piloting opportunities by the time they graduate,” he says.

“From commercial passenger flying to agricultural aerial spraying, the Pilot career options are expansive and we encourage anyone who is interested in aviation to come along and learn more about the opportunities on offer.”

The Hanger 85 Open Day is being held Saturday 13 November, 9:00 am – 2:30 pm, 85 Old Common Rd, Rowes Bay. Skytrans co-owner and rugby league legend Johnathan Thurston will also be in attendance at the Open Day. For more information on the Open Day, click here.
