Discover your passion. Try something new that excites and inspires you and then make it your career. It’s easier said than done, but it’s what Digital Marketing Guru, Bianca Shugg, has accomplished.

Bianca spent time in marketing and advertising before pursuing a career as a digital publisher for a publication she has since sold. While her digital knowledge is predominately self-taught, she invested in mentors and coaches in areas of interests that include blogging, sales funnels, email marketing and the list goes on.

While all of that contributes to her success in the digital environment she says “it was the daily use and experiments on social platforms that (she has) learnt the most from”.

The road to her current position as Regional Commercial Digital Manager with Southern Cross Austereo has been colourful and exciting. She has helped build brands and audiences, started online publications and integrated digital in to successful multimedia campaigns.

We’ve got her tips for you

According to Bianca, the only difference between traditional and digital advertising platforms is that digital platforms are not only an advertising tool for products and services but a way to connect branding messages with consumers in a transparent, fun and social way.

“There is so much opportunity with digital platforms, especially because it provides an instant communication tool with consumers. What other marketing platform not only allows the consumer to engage directly with a brand but allows the brand to respond instantly at any time of the day, from anywhere in the world?” she said to us excitedly. This area is rapidly expanding to make sure consumers never have a reason not to complete a purchase.

Entrepreneurs, listen up!

A mentor to many in her industry, Bianca reminds entrepreneurs who are doing business online to “stay true to your vision and goals” and to “be inspired by competitors rather than comparing” your business or brand with theirs. She stressed the importance of being familiar with Google Analytics as the information it can provide is invaluable.

Her last piece of gold was to “keep learning and improving” – she has done it, now it’s your turn!

 

Bianca Shugg is certainly an admired innovator in Townsville, now read up the house being dubbed the most innovative house in our state.
