Cody Blucher founded Buff & Shine Boat Detailing in 2021, providing dedicated detailing and restoration services to local boat owners. In this edition of “5 Minutes With…” Cody shares the business challenges, his love of the ocean and a sneak peak of what comes next.
Tell us about yourself and your business.
I’m Cody Blucher, and I am the proud owner of Buff & Shine Boat Detailing. My company has been serving customers in the Townsville region for two years, providing expert boat detailing services to ensure that their vessels look their best.
As our name suggests, our main focus is on boats and we work on everything from small yachts to large cruisers. We specialise in cleaning and restoring boats at marinas and hard stand facilities, using state-of-the-art equipment and high-quality products to achieve the best results.
As a boat owner myself, I understand the importance of keeping a vessel in top condition. That’s why we are committed to providing our clients with personalised services that meet their specific needs and exceed their expectations. We believe that every boat is unique, and we take the time to understand our clients’ requirements to deliver tailored solutions that ensure their satisfaction.
What has been the most challenging aspect of being a business owner?
One of the most challenging aspects of being a business owner is the constant pressure to adapt to changing market conditions, customer preferences, and technological advancements. This requires us to be flexible, innovative, and resilient in the face of uncertainty and competition.
Additionally, we are responsible for managing and motivating our employees and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers. We pride ourselves on strong relationships and high-quality results which leaves a very satisfied client. These responsibilities require a wide range of skills, from leadership and communication to financial management and marketing.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I absolutely love anything to do with the ocean. In my downtime you’ll find me on the water or exploring beautiful locations. Anything to do with the outdoors excites me and Townsville is the perfect location to experience it.
What is the best piece of career or business advice you ever received?
The best career/business advice is to pursue something that you are passionate about, but also be willing to work hard, learn continuously, and adapt to change. With dedication and perseverance, you can turn your passion into a successful and fulfilling career or business.
Going forward, what is next on the cards for your business?
We are proud to announce that we have recently expanded our business and now offer boat detailing services in South East Queensland.
We’ve also released our own product range, which is available online. It’s been a great experience to see our products, which we ourselves use day in/day out, sell with success to the public. We will continue exploring opportunities to expand services and offer new products and technologies.
There also could be an opportunity to move into the automotive detailing space as well, so watch this space!
